Jay Hromatka

Jay Hromatka is a managing director and member of the charter school group within the public finance group at Piper Sandler. He has developed a significant base of experience and relationships with the various clients he has served. For the past 20 years, Hromatka has worked almost exclusively in the charter school sector, structuring and underwriting charter school transactions for a diverse group of charter schools.

He began his banking career more than 35 years ago, and started at Piper Sandler in 2009. Having left in 2016 for three years to pursue other opportunities, Hromatka rejoined Piper Sandler in 2019. Prior to joining the firm, he worked for two other Minnesota based investment banking firms and a two banks (one local and one national).

In addition to his banking experience, Hromatka serves as a board member for a national, non-profit community development financial institution. This $250M CDFI focuses on helping charter schools develop, build and expand their school facilities—with a special emphasis on new schools that serve low-income families. Hromatka also serves as a commissioner on his city’s economic development advisory commission.

Hromatka graduated with a bachelor’s degree from the University of Minnesota. He is a registered representative and holds his Series 7, 50 and 63 licenses.
